FREEFALL Vineyards
Marlborough
The Corners Vineyard

The source for the Freefall Marlborough wine is the Corners Vineyard. Originally planted in the early 1980’s the Corners has 16 hectares under vine and is situated in the heart of the Wairau Plains.

The soil profile is typically Marlborough with silt overlying free draining alluvial stones and gravels. The grapes are organically grown, the Corners currently undergoing conversion to organic status with Bio-gro New Zealand.

Waipara

Located 40 minutes drive north of Christchurch, The Waipara Valley is snuggled in the lee of the Teviotdale hills that provide protection from cool easterly winds but open to warming north west winds. The valley has three soil types that include; gravely deposits, limestone derived clays and gravely loams all combining to produce unique rich & spicy Pinot Gris. Traditionally known for outstanding Riesling, excellent results have also been achieved with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.

Central Otago
Trig Hill Vineyard
Trig Hill Vineyard was developed in 2003 and has 19 hectares undervine with mostly Pinot Noir and some Pinot Gris, Riesling and Viognier planted.

The vineyard site is north facing but has a variety of slopes and elevations creating a range of micro-climates.

The soil profile consists of silt topsoil overlying clay, lime and schist rock fragments, a unique but typical profile from this semi-arid continental climate.

Gibbston Vineyard
Havoc Farm’ was planted on ‘Pigburn’ soils in Gibbston in  1992, and is a 3.5ha vineyard, now showing great vine maturity. We consistently see small tight berries with a delicate fragrance and depth of flavour from this beautiful vineyard based on the Gibbston Back Road.
Chinamans Terrace
‘Chinamans Terrace’ is named so due to this being the area where the first Chinese goldminers were based, this is a 13ha vineyard planted in 2000 on shallow, sandy loam soils. ‘
