The Kitchen Philosophy

Head chef Chris Whiting and his talented team strive in the farmhouse Kitchen to produce wholesome, hearty, healthy, farmhouse style food using the freshest produce and best quality meats and seafood available.

While the net is cast far and wide to pick up the star ingredients available from other regions, it is on our door step in Gibbston and the Cromwell basin's that we believe the country's finest products are available.

Whether it be the fantastic wild thyme that decorates The Winehouse & Kitchen's amazing hill side vista, the delicious organically grown produce from the Kawarau gorge, the mouth watering stone fruits, walnuts and fruit nectars from Cromwell, the exotic saffron and olive oils of Bannockburn, the wild rabbit and hare of the Bendigo region and of course the star of the lot, our sumptuous range of hand crafted wines produced from extensive family owned plantings throughout Central Otago and Marlborough.

The Kitchen team take this amazing array of produce and lovingly create them into the delectable seasonally changing menu. Through the whole cooking process the chefs are always striving to keep the individual character and flavor of each star ingredient, while our service staff uses their warm hospitality, great wine expertise and wide ranging local knowledge to produce a complete dining experience.
