The Winehouse & Kitchen Gardens

Our impressive gardens are the focal point for any visitors.  Come and take time out to wander through our beautiful grounds and explore the following gardens:

Potager garden – a unique garden representing the aroma and flavourings of four of our top wines

Floral Garden – this section of the garden provides a very floral and scented experience whilst wandering through on your way to the vines

Secret Garden – a place to escape and reflect in private whilst enjoying the peace and quiet plus a great view of the waterfall.

Croquet lawn – have a game of croquet in a garden of cool colours, pale yellows, greys and lime greens to contrast with the burnt Otago landscape

Kitchen Garden – a cooks garden providing an ever changing selection of culinary cuisine

From the Garden Designer - Nicky Saggers

“Creating this garden was a dream job – the villa was gorgeously restored to its original (1906) beauty and became the inspiration for the total design.  I love the era and followed heritage plantings as closely as I could (while trying to source fauna and flora that the rabbits wont dine on!)

Original plantings mean that many of the plants and trees provide food for either the kitchen or the people wandering around the garden.  At the same time, I wanted to create a forever changing garden of four seasons that visitors could feel totally relaxed in, with plenty to explore if they could wrench themselves away from the fabulous food & wine for a wander.

This garden is in its very early stages, but when mature, visitors will feel like they have stepped back over a hundred years.  Henry and Tom as owners want to encourage families to come and spend an afternoon here in the children’s adventure playground”
